When I saw this one in the cinema the other day and couldn’t find a Vern review about it afterwards, it just blew my mind. For one thing this is Guillermo Del Toro, the director of “Blade 2” (also of “Mimic”, which I personally prefer), and for another thing, I’m absolutely sure Vern’s written about the film SOMEWHERE. I just can’t find out where.
But here’s my second suggestion: “Pan’s Labyrinth”. Because it’s just had a cinema revival over here in the UK and because it’s absolutely fucking fantastic. Also because I find it hard to believe Vern and I would disagree on this one, like we seem to have been disagreeing on so much stuff recently.
I’d post a trailer here, but they’re all 1) REALLY spoiler-heavy, and 2) pretty godawful. (Seriously, this is not the movie trailer in which to use the cliche’d voiceover from the guy with the really deep voice.) So here’s the IMDB page instead.
