The thread for His Royal Badness, the Purple Yoda, the Minneapolis Midget, you name it.

Sometime back I did a Top Albums list for him on another music message board, so here it is copy and pasted. Not sure if I would keep the rankings now, but I'm too lazy to re-internally debate this topic again.

As listed above in my list, The Gold Experience is a damn good little album that's unfortunately out of print. Your best hope are ebay and downloading. It should've been a considerable hit for him, but because of his feud with WB (this was when he wrote "Slave" on his cheek), this came out over a year later than originally planned. Too little, too late by then. Pity.

Still the highlights range from his last #1 hit, "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" (though beware, the album mix is inferior to the singles mix. He might've tinkered it to death.) but also two all-time classic tracks in the pure balls-to-the-walls rocker "Endorphinmachine" and the ballad "Dolphin." His "Billy Jack Bitch" (allegedly a diss at a Minneapolis reporter) is damn fun. "I Hate U" is also a potent angry ballad in his discography. I'm not as hot on "Gold" as many fans are, but it's good.

(Ah yes, performing "Dolphin" on Letterman with that ridiculous mock suicide at the end there. Vintage Prince.)

Don't forget Lovesexy. Probably the worst cover in music history, but it's still a great album.

Funky, weird, beautiful and nasty. All the things we love about Prince.

CHAOS & DISORDER was one of those 90s albums Prince churned out to honor (and escape from) his WB contract, and that album cover with the 1999 LP being smashed to bits wasn't exactly subtle. Nor this statement in the liner notes: ""Originally intended for private use only, this compilation serves as the last original material recorded by O{+> for Warner Brothers.""

But unlike THE VAULT or COME, C&D is actually kinda fun, if only because by his own admission he cranked this out with his band on the fly and within a week and that spontaneous energy sorta leaks out and he doesn't tinker with the tracks to death in post. Still really for the fans and not the casual listener, but these two highlights are pretty enjoyable. Not essentials, not great ones, but they're fun.

I forgot it quite frankly. Most Prince fans in forums either hate "Pussy Control" or love it (it did get voted onto Peach & Black Podcast's Top 20 Prince songs of the 1990s), but I'm in the middle. Don't hate it, but not exactly a fan of it. It's serviceable, though in retrospect it's such an odd choice to open up that album. (Conventionally "Endorphinemachine" would be the opener.) Of course Prince and conventional never hooked up.

Or color me biased because Prince dropped a much better track, "Days of Wild," in favor of "Pussy Control." Go dig through the Internet for that bad boy.  Really Prince has never released more good music than most good official output put out by 99% of artists out there.

But yeah in name dropping, Peach & Black is a fun, informative Prince fan podcast based out of Australia. They review the classics along with the obscure releases like the (pretty dull) NEW POWER SOUL* and have readers polls and shit.

*="Come On" was a good track though. See even when Prince sucks, he still dishes out good gems hidden within the shit.

On an Australian radio show, one of Prince's back-up dancers prank called him.

Prince has opened a new website (3rdeyegirl.com) and selling tracks on it now, all for 88 cents each.

One of them is a new, unpreviously heard track: "Breakfast Can Wait"

What do y'all think?
