Hey man, ran across this page randomly and plan on checking out more of it. Glad you dug Dead End Drive-In. I'm a total Brian Trenchard-Smith (BTS) junkie. Up to 18 of his films over the past couple of years, 3 more as soon as October is over and my horror exclusivity runs out. Recently found out he directed one of my fave childhood movies. Listed on IMDB as FROG DREAMING, I had just put it on my "later" list. Turns out it was THE QUEST here in the US and I used to watch the SHIT out of tape. Anyways, I'm always up for chatting BTS, there's at least one other insane fanatic I've met through Twitter (I'm @bnl771, btw). Hope you enjoy more that you see. Some of his movies are absolutely masterpieces, some not so much :-) But they are always BTS movies, and they FEEL like BTS movies. I'm always down for giving recommendations.

I bought this recently and was impressed by the film overall but really surprised by how nice the production values were and how excellent the direction was. Some of the camera placements during the stunts had me slack jawed in wonder, while I kept thinking this Trenchard-Smith guy could have made it big directing action pictures. My only minor gripe is the music, something along the lines of the Repoman soundtrack would have been nice, but with Australian bands like The Scientists for instance.

I'd like to see Vern review an earlier Trenchard-Smith flick, Turkey Shoot (which can be seen playing at the drive-in), as it's a real favourite of mine. This one actually went to no.1 over here in the U.K. back in the day, where it went under the topical title of Blood Camp Thatcher!

Anchor Bay released a nice R1 of Turkey Shoot, under the title Escape 2000, and an excellent disc it is too.
