I love that they (SPOILER) don't get torn apart by Renee Zellwegger. She's awful, by the way, just bloody awful. I don't wanna be a jerk but she's also utterly unattractive in this, so... what is it he falls for, anyway? I really liked the very mature, uncomfortable but familiar theme: sometimes your friend has a girlfriend/boyfriend he/she really likes who you deep-down believe is a horrible human being. Whenever I was in that case I just showed up at their half-built house with my shotgun and told them to get outta town. Wait no that's what I would have done if I was Hitch. As did the rest of the cast. The first film I have seen with the Zelweggertron in it that I didn't hate. And thats because she played a rat. Such a great character drama... with guns. And Vern's description of the use of Zelwegger is spot on. Very crafty. Be great if they do another one. The last couple of years there have been quite a few really good "old school" westerns, like "3:10 to Yuma", "Seraphim Falls" and "Open Range". I´d love to read your take on these films, Vern. Especially "Open Range" which is particularly bad-ass. One of the things I really liked about "Appaloosa" was the song that Ed Harris sang during the credits. This one made me wish that Ed Harris would stop doing other films and just direct westerns in the future. Didn´t Robert Parker wrote a sequel the book? I thought this was a great film!
