Wow. It's strange reading old reviews and being able to comment on them. I love these films, but it's even better reading about them here. Thanks Vern.

Watched both these movies today. SHOWDOWN IN LITTLE TOKYO remains a badass classic while BRIDGE OF DRAGONS remains an underrated early Isaac Florentine gem. The latter has all the little touches -- conflicted hero, discussions about the nature of "honor," changes among fence-sitting characters' beliefs -- that generally register on Vern's badassometer. I still don't know why it's called BRIDGE OF DRAGONS. Does anyone know?

I do know that Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa / C-H T has one of the worst haircuts in the history of anything, which is unfortunate b/c, other than the much more unfortunate character trait of woman-beating, he's totally worth following as a military leader in this one. Other than a couple of Lautenberg Amendment moments, C-H T seems to be a good, largely misunderstood dictator-type dude. Shame about that misogynistic temper, especially against a chick who can challenge Tia Carrere from WAYNE'S WORLD & SHOWDOWN IN LITTLE TOKYO for overall crazy yellow fever hotness.

In conclusion, 1991 Tia Carrere is the hottest female ever.
